Negotiation Update #4

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Union and Company met today for over eight hours exchanging and discussing proposals.

The Union submitted proposals today that were centered around

  • First Responders
  • Dump Truck/Chauffeur position
  • Materials Management
  • Fleet Department
  • Utility Worker Career Path

The union also presented counters to company proposals

  • For Crew Lead One for One
  • Project worker agreement
  • Work lasting 16 hours or more
  • Restricted Duty Assignments

The Company Submitted proposals today that were centered around

  • Time step Increases attached to discipline
  • Changes eliminating Meal Allowances
  • Fleet Department Changes
  • facilities maintenance Changes
  • Alternate start and shift time to the Warehouse
  • Elimination of tool-keeper Position
  • To lengthen the amount of time required before a new crew leader is eligible for alternate shifts
  • Elimination of the service Red R weekend overtime scheduling and align service and distribution to a forced overtime rotation for both departments
  • Eliminate last chance agreements relating to Drugs an alcohol
  • No limit on cross district transfer
  • The addition of a Tuesday-Saturday Shift for the distribution Department

The company also submitted a full detailed proposal centered around Medical, Dental and Vision benefits with the elimination of the PPO option. This proposal was the subject of contentious bargaining. The union expects to counter all of the above captioned proposals.  

The next scheduled negotiation session will be on November 7th with detailed counters centered around the utility worker 6-year auto progression and the movement of all project workers to full time employment.  

The Executive Board will continue to formulate and fine tune our data and proposals for upcoming meetings. Your patience is asked as all the officers are working towards providing you a fair contract.
