Negotiation Update #3

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Union and Company met today for over eight hours exchanging and discussing proposals. The union pushed across Union 1, which was Meter Shop Maintenance position, Union 2, Working Forman Distribution and Union 3, Working Forman Service Department.

Union Proposal #1-This proposal was centered on creating a new meter maintenance classification within the meter shop to stop the need for outsourcing of meter maintenance task.

Union Proposal #2- This proposal seeks to address the non-experienced supervisory positions within the distribution department. This also hopes to address sunset positions within distribution, that will allow experience to oversee distribution tasks and safetyconcerns.

Union Proposal #3- This proposal seeks to address the non-experience supervisory positions within the Service department. This also hopes to address sunset positions within service, that will allow experience to oversee service task and safety concerns.

The company proposals today were (which included vigorous discussion)

  • Enhanced support for Occupational injuries
  • Local Sick leave law
  • Light Duty work restrictions
  • Accountability for failure to protect Company assets
  • Flexibility in AMR time
  • Crew Lead One for One
  • Project Worker Employment
  • Work lasting 16 hours and rest period
  • New Carpenter Certification requirement

The next scheduled negotiation session will be November 1st. At that time, it is expected that the company will provide the remainder of its non-economic proposals that remain. The Union also expects to provide the remainder of its non-economic proposals.

The Executive Board will continue to formulate and fine tune our data and proposals for upcoming meetings. Your patience is asked as all the officers are working towards providing you a fair contract.
