Ian, thank you for sharing a little more about Mike's life for the benefit of those of us who did not know him as well.

I worked with Mike only briefly -- but long enough to know that he was one of the good ones -- while I was an associate at Spiegel & McDiarmid and assisting Scott Strauss with the Local's proceedings before the ICC (2006-2008). It's true that Mike was fearless in fighting for the Local. But I respected him just as much for his ability to switch gears to close the deal. Results mattered to him. He reminded us that we were representing real people with real struggles. I will remember Mike as a tireless advocate and loyal gatekeeper.

My thoughts are with his friends and colleagues and, above all, with his family. I recall too how very soon after meeting Mike he talked enthusiastically about his wife and sons. It was easy to see how much they meant to him.

Michael Evers was one of those rare people that when you met him, you would never forget him. I am personally sadened by Mike's way to early departure from this earth, as should be all union brothers and sisters. During my time with our Local Union Board I was fortunate enough to have worked with Mike. A fighter, agitator, consultant, a teacher, but most of all a friend. I stayed in touch with Mike and discussed many issues or just a call to say hello. My prayers and thoughts go out to the firm, friends and to his loving family. May we all try to be better people and help those less fortunate in memory of Michael.

Friend indeed, I only knew for a short time but it seems as if I lost a best friend from childhood, my heart goes out to the entire Evers family and to those who were close to Mike god bless you to. Most members will never know the love and compassion mike carried within for workers rights, it's a tragedy in itself for those who never had the time to sit and converse with mike on issues that effect all of our lively hood.
Job well done buddy, your new journey is just beginning.

Rest In Peace

I am at a loss for words. Mike was a true friend on a professional level as well as a personal level. When John Groenwald and I met Mike some ten years ago and recruited (it was more like he recruited us) him to become legal council to our Local he didn't miss a beat. He fought for everyone no matter how small or large the situation. Mike always brought a new and exciting perspective to the table. He fought the company on every level (almost a fist fight with the companies legal council at an arbitration) but that was Mike because he was a true fan of the underdog. He always spoke his mind and never sugar coated anything whether it was right or wrong. I truly will miss him and his geniune way of thinking because he made me a better person and gave me an education everytime we spoke whether I wanted one or not. Mike, my family and I thank you for everything you have done for our Local and us personally you will be missed .God Bless You and Your Family......
